The name Boucheroite comes from the Arabic word "Bu sherwit", which means 'pieces of clothing'. The name describes very well the story behind it, where back in the 60s, women knotted the rug from used pieces of clothing and textiles, including cotton, nylon, wool, lace, tulle, etc.
